Definition of the Institution 

JAMK University of Applied Sciences, located in Central Finland, is an international higher education institution with expertise in 8 different fields of study. JAMK has about 8000 students and 740 staff members. The basic tasks of JAMK include degree awarding education, RDI, and continuing education and services. JAMK has defined six focus areas in its strategy. Within the focus areas JAMK develops its own competencies and connects itself strongly to the development of the region. JAMK’s focus areas are education expertise and business, bioeconomy, multidisciplinary rehabilitation, applied cybersecurity, automation and robotics and tourism. JAMK has received both national and international recognition for its high quality. With quality management JAMK ensures the academic quality of education, RDI activities and services provided. For international mobility, JAMK achieved the EU’s 2013 Erasmus Award for Excellence, finishing first among more than 4,000 European institutes of higher education. The project funding for research and development activities at JAMK, including investment support, total about 8 milj. € in 2018. Main RDI funding source has been EU programmes. The research and development activities of JAMK focus on: • applied research, utilizing scientific results to develop new practical applications, methods and problem-solving tools • development work which utilizes data to generate new substances, products, production processes or systems or improve existing ones • basic research, chiefly referring to scientific research undertaken by the staff.

The role of the partner in the MUSAE project 

JAMK will bring to the project its experience in developing and implementing entrepreneurial competences in the Arts curricula. Based on vast experience in developing educational modules in competence based curriculum, JAMK will lead designing of the new Modules tailored on countries characteristics and expectations in WP3. JAMK has developed entrepreneurial path for its students (entrepreneurship development within curricula, the world famous Team Academy –learning method) and cooperation between HEI and companies (business) since 1990’s and brings wide experience to the project. JAMK has also educational programmes in culture and cultural management (Music, Media and Event Management) and will share its wide experience in identifying the needed competences for the development of new learning objectives and the design of appropriate curricula. JAMK role is also to share its knowledge and experience in project management and quality control and monitoring of project outputs.
